Black Wood Environmental Biedrība
Black Wood Environmental Biedrība was founded by eight young people who came together during their university years with a shared passion for creating a more livable world. Witnessing the urgent impacts of climate change, they aimed to use natural resources more efficiently, generate knowledge, turn it into daily practices, and raise awareness for a sustainable future.

In 2022, we officially became an association to further strengthen and grow our mission.

Today, our members include academics, food and environmental engineers, dietitians, educators, artists, project specialists, and students. Supported by a strong network of volunteers, we operate as an inclusive community open to all individuals and professions, united by a commitment to sustainability and social well-being.

Our overall purpose is to promote an ecological and fair approach that protects public welfare, the rights of future generations, and all living beings. We advocate for food systems and social practices that are climate-aware, local, need-based, self-sufficient, and rooted in ancestral knowledge.
